New Haven County resident Adield Viana-Ribeiro, age 25, of Derby, was arrested on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at the Stamford Court for an incident that took place in November 2022 at the Darien Starbucks, said Sgt. Dan Skoumbros of the Darien Police.
During the incident, a woman told Darien police she was sitting in her vehicle in the Starbucks parking lot around 6:15 a.m. when she looked up to see Viana-Ribeiro standing by her window holding up a cell phone, Skoumbros said.
The woman said he was displaying a pornographic video on his phone. Viana-Ribeiro left the area before the police arrived, Skoumbros added.
During an investigation, an employee at Starbucks told officers the same man came into Starbucks earlier and given the employee his cell phone number.
Phone records showed the phone belonged to Viana-Ribeiro, Skoumbros said.
A Darien detective followed up on this case and was able to confirm that Ribeiro matched the suspect in the Starbucks’ surveillance video.
On Tuesday, Jan. 17, he was arrested by Ansonia Police and was being held in custody at the Bridgeport Correctional Center.
An arrest warrant was granted for breach of peace and he was held on a $30,000 bond.
